Ukrainian developer 4A Games, creators of the excellent Metro shooters, has been silent for some time. Two years, in fact. That’s not altogether surprising, as the studio closed its home office amid Ukraine’s political turmoil and moved to more friendly climates in Malta. Now the company has finally spoken via their Facebook page.
It seems the team is enjoying the change of scenery, judging by their vacation photos, but they’re also hard at work on two new projects. What are they? We don’t know! It’s fairly safe to guess that one is a Metro follow-up, but we ultimately don’t know what form either project will take. At least the team is seeing blue skies and not just Metro’s grey apocalypse.
Metro 2033 has a well-deserved spot on our list of the best shooter games on PC!
Released in 2010, Metro 2033 was an adaptation of Dmitry Glukhovsky’s novel, telling the tale of the aftermath of nuclear war, in which Moscow’s survivors were forced to make their lives in underground metro tunnels. The unique, bullet-based economy and bleak tone made it stand out then, and the follow-up Metro: Last Light proved to be a worthy sequel.
The good folks at 4A have suggested we tune into their newly-minted Twitter account as we await further announcements.
