If the chilly winds of Forza Horizon 3's snowy mountain DLC just isn't quite cutting it for you, Codemasters have your back. They're giving away Racedriver: GRID as their little Christmas present to the masses.
When it comes to racing titles, before Forza shot back into fame, Codemasters were still all over the genre thanks to their involvement in the Colin McRae series and its eventual Dirt off-shoot. Between those times, they released GRID - an urban racer that closed off the streets of major cities to organise races that wouldn't become a target for the cops.
Now; if you paid attention to the Steam Winter Sale starting up yesterday, you may have noticed the title on their already. It's not GRID: Autosport - the third title in the series - it's simply GRID - the first. Unless you're outside America where it had the slightly longer title of Racedriver: GRID. On there, it's down to a paltry £1.79. On the Humble Store, however, it's a tasty £0.00. That's $0.00 once some conversion comes into effect.
If you're holding onto an expensive VR headset, think of giving Thumper a go. It's sitting at 20% off during the Steam Winter Sale.
Race your way through Detroit, Milan, Tokyo, Le Mans, Milan and a whole host of other well-known city environments over the holiday period. It's an even more tantalising deal if you know you're pulling out a new steering wheel from under the tree. Calling its physics engine an evolution of that one used in Colin McRae DiRT, it's a racer of the last decade well worth your time.
Problem is, however; the official servers went offline in 2011. Merry Christmas from Codemasters!
