Iceberg Interactive has announced a new first person exploration adventure game called Empathy, developed by Pixel Night. Like other games in the genre, such as Everyone’s Gone to the Rapture and Dear Esther, the protagonist explores an empty world to discover secrets and uncover a mystery.
However, Empathy differs from other titles in the genre in that the world changes to reflect the emotions and memories of those who have gone before. Discovering special areas will cause the player to encounter ghostly vignettes about a disaster or plague that affected the world. The job of the player in the game is to fix the world, and halt the impending apocalypse that threatens it.
Empathy is expected to be released in September 2016, and the system requirements are already available on the official Steam page:
Minimum:
- OS: Windows 7 64 bit (32 bit NOT supported)
- Processor: 2.5 Ghz Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 or equivalent
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: nVidia Geforce GT470 or ATI HD6950 or equivalent
- DirectX: Version 11
- Storage: 9 GB available space
- Sound Card: DirectX Compatible Audio
Iceberg Interactive also released a trailer showing off some of the moody locations and story beats that the player can expect.
