In this day and age of games as services, where things are updated in perpetuity until either the developers or the players move on, it’s honestly a nice change of pace to see a game actually get finished. Prison Architect, the indie prison management simulator, is finished with the release of its 2.0 update.
The final update unlocks developer tools and cheats for all players, allowing for construction to occur immediately, any object in the game to be spawned at zero cost, placeable water, and fast-forwarding for research. There all also some updates to the specifics of the policy window and modding system, along with a selection of bug fixes.
There are already tons of great independent games out there. We just happen to have a list of the best indie games on PC!
“TWO MILLION players have now enjoyed Prison Architect,” reads the official notice. “We are flabbergasted. We would like to thank every single one of you from the bottom of our hearts, for making this such a dream project. After six years of development including over 40 monthly updates, this is the final content update for Prison Architect and the final video. We will of course continue fixing bugs and providing support. We are going to take a break for a little while, but we will be back soon with our next game.”
We look forward to seeing what the team at Introversion Software does next.
