Today, the three founders of Press Play (known for award winning XBOX titles Kalimba and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood) launched their new studio, Lightbulb. The team is still located in Copenhagen and has already teased some information about its next PC game, Pioneers – a physics-based construction game.
Rune Dittmer, Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Lighbulb commented on the formation of the new studio and their new game:
“We are excited to be back and to embark on this new challenge as Lightbulb games. We’re a bunch of battle proven veterans from Press Play, who together cover all the bases needed to create Pioneers. We have been very lucky to secure the team we have and we look forward to scaling up over the next year, continuing to raise the bar for what construction games can be”.
Lightbulb’s Creative Director and Co-Founder, Mikkel Thorsted also had this to say about its next project:
“Pioneers is the kind of game we love to make and play ourselves. If you look at the games we have made in the past, there’s a shared theme that keeps popping up – CREATIVITY. Pioneers is all about that. It’s about using your imagination to create the most awesome vehicles, aeroplanes, boats or whatever you fancy, and use them to explore a new immersive world. This is our sweet spot”.
Pioneers is set for its first early release on PC in the second half of 2017. The Lightbulb team are also offering people the chance to sign up to play the game before anyone else and follow Pioneer’s development from its earliest stages on their website. However, the webpage is currently unavailable so we will update this once it’s up and running.
