There's no shortage of French studios putting out game recently, and another - Cubical Drift - has slotted itself in for an October 12th release.
Arriving on Steam's 'Early Access' preview program in a few weeks time, Stellar Overload has apparently received praise from Epic Games in the form of a helpful grant thanks to their creative use of the company's Unreal Engine tech.
Set in a futuristic world were everything is, of course, square, Stellar Overload brings a healthy dose of flashy FPS combat to a procedurally generated voxel world featuring all the survival RPG and world-sculpting mechanics we've all come to expect from these types of games over the years. Harvest resources, beef up your equipment and then go on to paint the side of a mountain with a friend - or just blow it up.
Originally titled Planets³, Stellar Overload attracted more than $300,000 through Kickstarter alone and lapped up the attention of around 20,000 hopeful backers. It's clear developers Cubical Drift are following the right path here.
