If you take any one thing away from the newest Sol Trader developer diary, let it be this; don't slot yourself between parents who's maternal figure is cheating on your dad with 2 other guys at the same time. Broken families in space are a bad idea, folks.
Ahead of the 1.2 update to genre-bending space simulator Sol Trader, lead developer Chris Parsons has started his own play-through series to help potential new players come to terms with its unique mix of bloodline crafting and far-reaching business relationships.
The patch is currently running through the worthwhile stage of essential bug fixes; another thing you typically don't want to be seeing in space, should Hollywood be a more reliable source of galactic information than the Discovery Channel. Added to the space management sim comes the harrowing experience of potentially being fired from your line of work, or earning yourself a sustainable salary - so it's not all bad. You can hitch a ride with characters, too, unless they'd rather see you stranded.
Improvements to the UI and tooltip system should make it easier for newcomers to push on ahead without being stuck for direction, and there's a even specific missions in place to add a little more depth to your journey through the cosmos.
If you're looking to meet some space citizens, Sol Trader can be grabbed through Steam. The 1.2 update will go live with Steam Achievements in due time.
