I don’t know about you, but I love surviving. Give me a stick, a rock, and a hunger meter and I’m happy as can be. It’s a shame that video games so rarely revolve around surviving the elements these days, but thankfully, Ubisoft is listening.
Far Cry Primal is getting a free update April 12 which will toughen up the existing mechanics and add a few more considerations. You’ll now have a stamina gauge and thicker fog of war to contend with. Also, no minimap, and even fast travel will now consume resources.
Plus, activating survival mode turns taming animals into Pokemon! You’ll need to knock them down to half life before they’ll accept your capture, and certainly legendary creatures are one-of-a-kind, meaning that if they’re dead they’re gone forever. You can similarly be one-of-a-kind by turning on an optional permadeath option.
Proliferation of survival games aside, this seems like an interesting way to play Primal, which is otherwise kinda just another Far Cry game.
