Certainly not lying when they announced a few new projects in the works, Rebellion chose last night's Nintendo Direct to announce Rogue Trooper Redux - but it's coming to just about every home platform under the sun.
Travelling back to Nu Earth in what many considered to be a well-adapted rendition of 2000 AD's Rogue Trooper comic book series, Rebellion are looking to introduce the 2006 classic to a new audience.
Having only just announced plans to open up the legendary 2000 AD franchise to other budding developers, Rogue Trooper Redux is the first to have another company taking up Rebellion's generous offer with TickTock Games handling the brunt of development. Bringing cover-based combat to the masses months before Epic's Gears of War pulled the mechanic into the mainstream, it's a good fit for those looking for a little more strategy to their shooter experience.
Rebellion Opens Up To Allow Other Developers To Take On Its 2000AD Characters
Within the universe of Nu Earth, you'll regain control of one of the last-standing Genetic Infantryman who isn't affected by the planet's dangerously toxic atmosphere. Wedging his fallen comrades into the equipment by way of usable biochips, Rogue is the last line of offence against the Nort regime and a killing machine looking for the sweet satisfaction of revenge.
Likely being in the early stages of development, the game's initial teaser trailer shows nothing but a logo with a voice-over. We'll post it down below, but the images you'll see will be of the original title.
