Anyone who purchased the first game also got the Season Pass, so will have access to all three "Books" of Pillars Of The Earth once available. Here's where the story picks up, from the press release:
"Rejoin Jack and Aliena who are now grown up and matured as they fight to save Kingsbridge from the ruthless William Hamleigh. William does not take Aliena’s romantic rejection lightly and threatens not only her life but the lives of her family and friends. Despite the threat they continue their work on a spectacular cathedral to attract pilgrims and visitors for their thriving market, which promises prosperity for their small, medieval town. But as William Hamleigh becomes earl and joins forces with the merciless bishop Waleran he has only one goal: Kingsbridge must fall!"
The new episode features over 200 hand-painted backgrounds and a full orchestral soundtrack by the FILMharmonic Orchestra in Prague. Set in 12th Century England, despite being based on a novel the player will have the ability to influence the story and even alter certain outcomes. Daedalic suggests this episode will be a "faster-paced, more action-packed experience".
The original novel by Ken Follett has sold over 26 million copies worldwide. The first episode of the game is described by Daedalic writer Matt Kempke as "by far, Daedalic’s biggest game... from a production value standpoint, speaking to art, animations, and music, our version of Pillars of the Earth is easily about three times as rich as any classic Daedalic game." You can get the game on Steam here.
