Announced far ahead of its eventual release date, Planet Coaster is getting a big anniversary update in-line with its usual seasonal additions. It may just miss out on the big day itself, but it's bringing far more than we were led to believe.
When the game took centre stage at the company's first 'Frontier Expo' in one month ago today, the development team announced plans to celebrate the game's first year anniversary with an update that would include a scenario editor, three new rides, a 'staff management' building, miraculously, picnic benches. But wait, there's more! (sorry).
Alongside word of a release date, it seems the team have taken the time to implement some of the suggestions voiced at the reveal showcase. Building on the classic Weisshorn already confirmed for the update, they've created a more compact version called the 'Monte Leone' that should allow for more customizability. Making mention of one other yet-to-be-revealed ride back then, that's now confirmed to be the legendary Zenith - although their embedded image seems to have vanished from Imgur.

Planet Coaster VR - What We Want To See
Building on the addition of picnic benches after all this time, they're adding themed canopies and new autumn trees which, when used in conjunction with the new custom biome background feature, should make for some gorgeous hillside plazas! Custom text will be available on all rides, so your named rides won't always share the same branding, while improved triggers should allow for things like custom strobe lights for those Space Mountain recreations everybody loves. Lastly, there's mention of adding barriers and kerbs to help spice up the wobbly pathing system.
Standard for the team at this point, there's now a livestream planned for November 15 where the team will go into far greater detail about the upcoming Scenario Editor function. If you're wanting to see all the features up-close upon release, they're hosting another on the November 22 launch day.
