In what has become standard practice in most big-name MMOs of recent years, Destiny 2 is employed a familiar system that trickles out new content as the weeks go by.
If you managed to rush to the end of its 12-hour campaign on launch and booked a full week off work, you may start to feel like you're reaching the end of what Bungie's shooter sequel has to offer. Take a look at what's to come, and you'll realise that isn't quite the case.
Launch week - that being this week - contained the main Destiny 2 campaign, the first Nightfall challenge and the first of many planet-based 'Flashpoint' missions - with the first being on The EDZ.
Destiny 2 Golden Chest Locations: European Dead Zone (EDZ)
Next week sees much more content unlocking on seperate days with the trend carrying over for 4 whole weeks. Thanks to a nice infographic (viewed above), we're well aware of what to expect. For those who, for whatever reason, can't view the image, we've listed the unlocks down below;
- Week 2
- Tuesday, September 12
- Nightfall: The Inverted Spire
- Nightfall Guided Games (beta)
- Flashpoint: Nessus
- Wednesday, September 13
- 'Leviathan' raid launches
- Friday, September 15
- Trials of the Nine begins
- Xur weekly trades begin
- Week 3
- Tuesday, September 19
- Nightfall: Exodus Crash
- Flashpoint: IO
- Friday, September 22
- Trials of the Nine - Survival on Alter of Flame
- Xur weekly trade
- Week 4
- Tuesday, September 26
- Nightfall: The Pyramidion
- Flashpoint: Titan
- Leviathan raid 'Guided Games'
- Faction Rally begins
- Friday, September 29
- Trials of the Nine - Survival on Emperor's Respite
- Xur weekly trade
And that's your lot! The general idea so far seems to be that Xur will be trading for Legendary Shards acquired by dismantling unneeded legendary/exotic items from your inventory. Legendary items away 3, while Exotics away 5 shards each. How many Xur will be asking for is anyone's guess, but the staggered release is likely to allow more to catch up and have sufficient shards before they lose out on anything tasty.
For us PC players, it's unsure if we'll be looking at a similar roll-out once Destiny 2 lands later next month, or whether we'll just get everything in one go. We're not cross-compatible, so there's reason to believe we'll be following the same rules.
