Still going strong after two years on Steam, Insurgency not only received a patch yesterday evening, but more details for its sequel.
New World is back for more with Insurgency: Sandstorm - and it’s promising to bring the close-quarter combat of the original back into a much more impressive visual field.
Dropping the aged - yet still very impressive - Source Engine for its newest outide, you’ll be taking control of a female Yazidi Kurd fighter through the graphically striking rendition of a small Iraqi village through Unreal Engine 4. Attempting to move away from the bombastic and war-glorifying efforts of Hollywood Blockbusters, New World is aiming for a more grounded approach to the perils of combat.
Day of Infamy Is Another Game From The Developers Of Insurgency
Once being held captive in the tiny village, our hero, her sisters and friends manage to break the ties of their prison when a hole is blown through it during a sudden skirmish outside. Fast forward a few years and our heroine is leading a small team of her own away from the combat - but it isn’t so easy to avoid confrontation in a war-torn land. Four-player co-op will be featured alongside its new emphasis on the use of vehicles around its expanded locale.
Though likely radically different in its tone compared to previous military shooters, Insurgency: Sandstorm is more about telling the tale of those attempting to survive rather than those drafted in to put a stop to the fighting. We won’t be seeing it until next year, however. But the original is still a good buy.
