Prepare for adventure, intrigue, and treachery in the Middle Ages as we take to Twitch to stream Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth! Pillars of the Earth is the newest point-and-click adventure series out of developer Daedalic Entertainment. Just ahead of its release, we’ll be going live with the first part of Pillars of the Earth today at 19:00 UK/ 11:00 PT / 14:00 ET!
German developer and publisher Daedalic Entertainment are no strangers to the point-and-click genre. They’ve worked with many previous series such as Deponia and Edna & Harvey. However, Pillars of the Earth is a bit of a departure from the often lighthearted affairs of the Daedalic catalogue.
Based on Ken Follett’s worldwide best-selling novel of the same name, the Pillars of the Earth games will take players back to 12th Century war-torn England to engage in a plot of church, politics, hope, and desperation. Players follow the likes of Tom Builder, the monk Phillip, the outlaw child Jack, and the disgraced noblewoman Aliena through their intertwined stories as they are woven into a grand scheme to build a cathedral in the impoverished town of Kingsbridge.
Daedalic teamed up directly with Ken Follett to adapt the novel to a game through an agreement with German Pillars of the Earth publisher Bastei Lübbe. The series will be split into three separate parts with the first part being publicly available on Steam for PC, Mac, and Linux beginning on August 15, 2017. It will also be available on PS4 and Xbox One. You can also learn more about the game from our in-depth interview with Daedalic Creative Lead Matt Kempke.
We’ll be playing the first hour or so of Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth and digging into the gorgeous art and mechanics of this new era of Daedalic adventures.
