Arriving onto Steam right now, Black the Fall is an indie success story that stems are far back as the Square Enix Collective itself.
For those unaware, the Square Enix Collective is a initiative brought in by Square Enix to aid in the developement of promising looking indie start-ups. Headline making crafts like Goetia, Moon Hunters and Pankapu the DreamKeeper were all streamlined through the creative process thanks to fudning and support from Square with Fear Effect Sedna and The Turning Test being other stand-out products of the project.
The lastest to emerge from the program is, coincidentally, one of the first to make it in - Black the Fall. Throwing players into the height of the communist movement, a series of puzzles hinders your ability to break free of the establishment and the strikingly powerful environments created by the questionable ideals of the regime.

Speaking on the release, Creative Director Cristian Diaconescu said "With Black The Fall we really want to capture the feeling of what it was like to live in the communist state, and have been inspired by the first-hand experiences of our families. The world Black lives in might be fictional, but the system trying to beat him down is as bleak and oppressive as it has been in many countries around the world,"
Citing the Romanian break from the system only around 30 years ago as a good source of their inspiration, Black the Fall employs manipulation and stealth tactics when it comes to traversing the bleak and threatening Communist problem.
