Michel Ancel is hard at work on a couple of games for Ubisoft, WiLD and the long-awaited Beyond Good & Evil 2 that had such a tremendous showing at E3 this year. According to his Instagram though once he's done with them he just has one game in mind: Rayman 4.

Here's the Instagram post in question, next to a photo of Rayman seen by Ancel in a second-hand games store:
Ancel promises "we'll need to bring him back again ... for his fourth adventure!" The wording is especially notable - fourth adventure? While there are a lot more than just 3 Rayman games, the last two Ancel-made Rayman games, Origins and Legends, are both prequels to the first game. This post suggests he would like to make the next Rayman game an actual Rayman 4, a sequel to Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc and a proper sequel. We somehow doubt this means going 3D however, especially as both Origins and Legends were so very well received.
What we said about Rayman Legends: "Rayman Legends is one of the best platformers of all time and you should definitely buy it if you want to have a smile on your face." Origins is much the same level of excellence, although 2003's 3D Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (which wasn't made by Ancel and his team) wasn't as well received.
If Ancel returns to Rayman you can consider us very happy bunnies (or Rabbids) indeed.
