UPDATE
Today we got our first look at Resident Evil 7’s Not A Hero DLC, the video of which you can see above. It’s all impressive, but at the 2:06 mark a new enemy is shown for the first time… and it matches the leaked details we revealed below.
Here is the enemy from the video, that is supposedly called ‘The White Molded’ according to the leak:
Here is the quote from the leaked post regarding these enemies, which do seem to have entered exactly as ‘thedataminer7’ described with Chris Redfield searching for a way to help his tortured teammates.
“At this point you will encounter your first “White Molded”. These monsters are responsible for creating the toxic gas, killing one will make an area “clear” of any fumes. If normal Molded come intp contact with these fumes they will become enraged with greater attack power, speed and health.”
Sound nasty - and now we finally see what they look like. The leak goes on to describe what happens immediately after you defeat the creature in the video:
“Once you kill your first White Molded, Lucas Baker will be on the radio, fully aware of your intentions to find him and thus this will trigger a scene in which you partake in his games.”
If the White Molded stuff is accurate, the rest of the leak may well be genuine too - and consequently this DLC may indeed link to Resident Evil 8!
ORIGINAL STORY
Resident Evil 7 is one of the best games of the year, but you may have forgotten that its final set of DLC, starring series hero Chris Redfield, was promised in Spring 2017 but was delayed to December. Now an anonymous source claims to have full story details on the ‘Not A Hero’ DLC, with hints on the newly announced ‘End of Zoe’ DLC. This is only a rumour, but just in case beware potential story SPOILERS for Resident Evil 7: Not A Hero and End of Zoe below!

Now, take all of what you read with more than a dash of salt, since it comes from an anonymous Reddit post. Normally we wouldn’t give any sort of credence to this sort of rumour, but it does seem uniquely plausible. Not A Hero, which features Chris Redfield returning to a player character role for the first time since Resident Evil 6 and Revelations, will deal for the hunt for Lucas Baker - the more theatrical one of the Baker family who sets all those traps for Ethan, and is still alive. From the post:
“Not a Hero will begin immediately after the ending of Resident Evil 7, the first scene will be first person of the player taking control of Redfield and in this scene you will be able to see Ethan Winters full body including face. Upon Ethan being rescued, Redfield along with a group of Umbrella soldiers will proceed to enter the Baker’s residence. Upon entering the residence Redfield will tell the soldiers to split up to look for the whereabouts of Lucas Baker.”
For every Lucas game you pass he rewards you with a piece of “evidence” that will not only lead up to his location but it will be information on who he has been working for and why. This info will tell you exactly why the Bakers were targeted. There is more to Jack Baker than you know. And there is a reason as to why he relocated his family in the middle of nowhere.”</b>
The post also suggests a new enemy called the “White Molded”, toxic gas-spewing versions of the regular Molded, who can turn regular ones into tougher, enraged variations.
Meanwhile, the ‘End of Zoe’ DLC will link to ‘Not A Hero’, and apparently will treat the choice to save Zoe as the canon decision - in RE7, if you remember, you could either choose to save Zoe or your slightly evil girlfriend Mia. The post says, “Much how she helped Ethan, she will be helping Redfield and she does get captured by Lucas and she changes once you try to rescue her prompting a boss battle against Zoe.”
Most interesting is that the fate of Lucas Baker will supposedly directly connect to the next game, presumably Resident Evil 8.
“Lucas Baker does not die in this DLC however he will sustain damage to where you do see him semi-mutate into what he really is. The ending of Not a Hero will prompt as to what awaits in Resident Evil 8 and any and all questions will come to light at the final sequence.”
There’s no indication in these posts how much is in End of Zoe rather than Not A Hero, so the End of Zoe DLC could follow on from the “Saving Mia” choice, and Not A Hero could follow the “Saving Zoe” choice, although only the latter will be canon.
Of course, this could also be total made-up nonsense that bears no relation to the final game, but the proof will be when the DLC launches December 12. The White Molded enemies sound particularly specific, so it’ll be interesting to see if they turn up. Guess we’ll find out December.
