The latest trailer for Realmforge and Kalypso's entertaining Dungeon Keeper-em-up Dungeons 3 is here, and it rather nicely introduces you to the whole game in just three minutes. Which is why it's called 'Dungeons 3 in 3 minutes'. If it was 4 minutes it wouldn't sound as good. Technically they go a few seconds over and there's extra bits that bring it up to 3:49, but we won't hold that against them. The trailer can be seen here or embedded below.
We play an hour of Dungeons 3's campaign!
Our review of Dungeons 2. We liked it!
Narrated by the game's lovely narrator Kevan Brighting, who gives the whole game a Magicka or Discworld-style feeling, the trailer shows why Dungeons 3 will be Bigger, Better and Slicker than Dungeons 2. You get to see battles, upgrading creatures, turning invading heroes into skeletons or zombies, and smacking around your little goblin Snots. We also get introduced to dark elf priestess Thalya, your player avatar in the game.
From the press release, if you want an even more potted explanation of the game:
"In Dungeons 3, the Dungeon Lord has successfully united the forces of evil and established the roots of his dark empire, leading him to the next step in his diabolical quest: expansion! Through enticing the dark elf priestess Thalya from the fluffy clutches of the surface world to become his chief lieutenant, the Dungeon Lord has found a way to direct his campaign of conquest from the confines of his underground lair. With Thalya on the front line, and the united forces of evil to support her, players will have to use every trick in the book to best those do-gooders of the overworld, once and for all! BWAHAHAHAAAA"
Okay, we added a "BWAHAHAHAAAA" at the end there.
We played an hour of Dungeons 3's campaign and we were mightily impressed. You can check out our gameplay video at that link, but a nice trailer telling you all about the new things in Dungeons 3 is good too. Dungeons 3 contains two types of gameplay - underground Dungeon Keeper-style dungeon management, and a separate overworld where you control minions like a traditional RTS to conquer. It's all a lot of fun.
Dungeons 3 will be out October 13.
