Though the timing doesn't line up with any immediate Marvel movie releases as usual, the Marvel Heroes 2016 Twitter account seems to be hinting at big plans for 2017.
Spurred on by a vague tweet left by Gazillion Entertainment's Social Media team yesterday, fans of their on-going Marvel Heroes A-RPG title are about as ready as can be when it comes to potential new content.
Asking for any content creators to come forward with links of their coverage, the Marvel Heroes 2016 Twitter account teased big things for the new year. The grand switch-over to Marvel Heroes 2017 hasn't hit yet, but it seems as if it could be due somewhat soon. With forum posts lighting up at the start of the year, many expected Thursday 5, January to be the date. It wasn't.
Celebrate Luke Cage On Netflix With Another Marvel Heroes 2016 Update
Running since 2013, Marvel Heroes was rebranded to Marvel Heroes 2015 in the Summer of 2015 before shifting to Marvel Heroes 2016 in January of that year. Bringing several new characters to roster in-tandem with the big additions to the Marvel Cinematic/TV universe, the hints of 2017 content could simply ride on the hopes of characters from this year's release of Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Spider-Man: Homecoming and, potentially, Inhumans making an appearance; though others are hoping for new raid content.
Of course, the social media team could simply be attempting to drum up additional interest in the game by having YouTubers and Twitch streamers show-off new characters and skins. 2017 could just be another year for Marvel Heroes, or it could really be big. We'll have to wait to find out exactly what they meant by that tweet.
