Revolution Software, the UK-based creators of classic adventure games Broken Sword, Beneath A Steel Sky and Lure Of The Temptress, posted their Christmas Message on YouTube today. In the video founder Charles Cecil says that Revolution are currently working on creating "the future of the adventure", which also "takes inspiration" from their previous games - could they be sequels to either Beneath A Steel Sky or Lure Of The Temptress?

You can watch the video here or embedded below. Charles Cecil says Revolution have been partly working on bringing their last game Broken Sword 5 to new platforms, but they've also been working on their next game, which he calls "the future of the adventure".
"Most of our work has been focused on a prototype, which is for us exploring the future of the adventure - how we can create wonderful stories with great characters that move around a compelling world."
He goes on to say how they'll also be taking "inspiration" from their previous games, and specifically calls out Lure Of The Temptress, their first game that pioneered the idea of 'Virtual Theater', where things happen whether you're there to see them or not:
"Something that's always been in my mind is the idea that characters can walk around independently of each other, something that we pioneered in our first game Lure Of The Temptress and I've always felt frustrated that we never really developed this. So we're in this fantastic position of being able to explore what we believe all of these ideas could translate into to make a great adventure game."
It's long been rumoured that Revolution's next game would be a sequel to classic cyberpunk title Beneath A Steel Sky. While there is no confirmation in the Christmas Message video, when Charles Cecil says "We look forward to 2018 and communicating with you what we're going to be doing," originally a pop-up for a Beneath A Steel Sky interview immediately appeared - and this has now been changed. The term "the future of the adventure" certainly could be related to an adventure game set in the future!
Whether Revolution is working on Beneath A Steel Sky 2, Lure Of The Temptress 2, or some other brand new IP, we look forward to seeing what they have in store for 2018.
