With some of the Tropico team moving to use another planet for their next city builder - Surviving Mars - the obvious question to arise from what was - what about Tropico 6?
Shortly after the reveal of Surviving Mars, Kalypso Media and Limbic Entertainment made sure to know fans would be getting what they wanted. Tropico 6 was revealed - as were its two main new features; archipelagos and raids.
Present at this year's E3 was Limbic Entertainment and our own TJ Denzer. Naturally, the duo sat down to discuss the title in detail while TJ quizzed the developers about a multitude of topics - namely, the amount of buildings available for us to scatter across these multiple islands.

"We’re working with the set-up of previous instalments and for that we thought about the various needs of the Tropicans and how to satisfy them.", said Johannes Pfeifer. "It came out to around 150 buildings so far, some of which vary according to era and some of which can be unlocked by various means, such as spending money on blueprints for new and better buildings.".
Another one of those methods is the new 'raid' system that's likely fairly similar to the raids MMORPG players are familiar with. "Every era has a specific raid building from which you can order some rather bold actions. For example, you can order espionage or sabotage. Do you think the Statue of Liberty would look good in El Presidente’s countryside? Then you can send out agents to attempt to steal it, as well as currently seventeen other such unique buildings and landmarks."
On the subject of buildings and the research system in place to unlock more of them, Pfeifer promises we'd learn more about it later in the year. Then, we continue to wait until its 2018 release.
