Despite originally slated to release out of Alpha and into Early Access in April, Planet Nomads never quite made it. Pushing back to May didn't have a definitive date for a while, but that date is actually today.
Launching in around two hours from now, Planet Nomads will finally become available to more than just those initial Alpha backers. Pushing up the price to around $30 - there's a 10% discount ready for launch day and a little bit beyond.
Since its announcement in January, Planet Nomads has seen a steady stream of content patches and bug fixes with the devleopment team remaining as transparent as ever. Sometimes, even with devoted backers at their side, developers would descend into silence rather than keep players in to loop with each noteworthy change. Not the case here. Though they originally scheduled their Early Access push for April, it was those initial Alpha backers that convinced the Planet Nomads team that a first impression means everything. Apparently they didn't believe April's build was ready for the harsher public eye.
It May Not Reflect The Changes, But Our First-Look In January Is Still Worth A Read
A number of updates have been pushed out between that originally scheduled April release - and today's May 25 finalised launch is no different. 1.0 is obviously reserved for the final, proper release, leaving us at 0.6.1 for today's first Early Access update. We've updated our obligatory patch notes page to display the changes; but noteworthy teases include waking you up before you starve to death, rebalancing survival mode to be less murderous at the start and, thankfully, turning off the tutorial.
The team capped off their announcement thread by thanking the Alpha Nombads for their bug-hunting spree and commitment to the cause. Interested? Check it out on Steam.
