More into the tycoon genre than the simulator genre? If so - and you like trains, at least - Kalypso Media's 'Railway Empire' could be a good fit.
Newly announced and playable to anyone attending GDC this week, Kalypso Media and Gaming Minds have joined forces to shine the spotlight on dramatic world of locomotives.
While it likely won't attempt to rival the depth of your average train simulator and its incredibly expansive - and expsenive - amounts of DLC add-ons, Railway Empire is less about the cars and more about the cash. 40 different trains will be available at launch with attention to detail certainly not taking a back seat - just to appease those serious about their rail rides.

Starting off as a budding businessman in 1830s America, you'll be tasked with buying - or building - railway stations, factories, attractions and bridges to keep your business ahead of the game while focusing on over 300 tweaks and improvements to factor into your growing business ventures. Rival companies can - and will - threaten your growing empire; so make sure to send out some bandits to meet them halfway. Highway robberies and train heists were all the rage in the 1800s. Challenges are available for those looking to test their business acumen while relaxed players can rid themselves of monetary walls to do whatever they please.
Scheduled for release in Q4 2017, Kalypso Media promise to drop more info during GDC all this week while the game itself is on display.
