This year had two well-known sniper-centric shooters go head to head - CI Games' Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 and Rebellion's Sniper Elite 4. For CI Games, however, it was their third entry that managed to gain the negative press while Rebellion scooped up the acclaim.
On the back of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3's lukewarm reviews from its release back in April, the group have issued a statement about their plans going forward.
Essentially admitting they likely bit off more than they could chew in a futile attempt to play catch-up with other big-name AAA studios, the remain committed to keeping those Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 fans going with new content while they work on a new tactical shooter and the long-awaited sequel to Lords of the Fallen.
Of Course Rebellion Is Looking Into Having Judge Dredd Star In A New Video Game
"We’ve learned a lot as a team over the course of development for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3" stated Cheif Executive Officer Marek Tyminski; "When we began development of SGW3, we decided on such a relatively large scale of the game with its open world that now we realize it was just too ambitious versus what we could have been able to deliver in any reasonable amount of time."
Hoping the last three years of Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3 has given them the foundation of their next title, CI Games are now busy working on one they think will enable more tactical depth than their last game, without being slowed down by the idea of an open-world environment.
