The Sudden Strike series is a renowned World War II, real-time strategy game developed by Fireglow and published by Kalypso Media. The latest iteration,Sudden Strike 4, has you choose whether to take the Allies, Germans or Soviets into the fray across the campaign, AI skirmishes or multiplayer opponents.
Each campaign comes with over 20 missions to test your resolve and put your ultimate cunning on the line. Each army comes over 100 authentic units, all of which stay true to history. It is the player’s duty to use skill and cunning in your tactics to defeat your enemy and ultimately win the war for your side.
Gameplay
Sudden Strike 4 takes a step back from the hecticness of a more recent, fast-paced RTS and delivers a more slower-paced, tactical strategy game. It delves into an intricate, 3D world rich with environmental beauty and war time destruction.
Each army has sub commanders, all of which have unique special abilities you need to utilise. Vehicles include historical creations like the Heinkel He 111 German bomber, the T-72 Russian tank, the Hawker Typhoon, British, single-seat fighter-bomber and the Tiger II German Königstiger tank.
The game gives you a vast amount of opportunities for tactical advantage and the decisions you make will change the dynamic and tactics of the enemy or it will simply give you a quicker, more direct route to your destination. The tactics are yours to mold as you so wish.
It has a pause-and-play system that allows the player to freeze time like the Queen’s Nose itself while issuing complex and detailed maneuvers to your units in the field. The game will also come with full modding support upon it’s release.
System Requirements
As we like to expect, the minimum system requirements for Sudden Strike 4 are relatively tame. If you're rocking a Nvidia GeForce that was specifically sold as a gaming card over the last 4-5 years, you're pretty much good to go. As for AMD, place yourself above the aged HD 7850 and you're looking peachy. They haven't used the 'HD' series handle in a long time now.
Then, Recommended scales up to the mid-range user. AMD's budget-friendly RX 470 slots in here alongside Nvidia's 1050 Ti - a boosted version of their most recent 1080p buster.

Release Date And Pre-Order Info
If you're looking to wet your feet within the Sudden Strike franchise before diving into Sudden Strike 4, Steam's current pre-order bonus is a pretty good option. While granting you beta access to Sudden Strike 4, a simple pre-order will also net you the last three numbered games in the series as a bonus incentive - so either way, you have something to play before Sudden Strike 4 officially launches come August 11.
The beta offers a first look experience to the games tutorials and three awesome single player missions; like the Battle of the Bulge, Balaton Defensive Operation and all the too infamous battle of Stalingrad.
Not only that, but you get two skirmish/multiplayer maps and full access to the Sudden Strike 4 beta test forums where you're encouraged to voice your feedback and report any bugs in the hopes that they'll be squashed for the final build.
