Excited for a bit of classic Sonic action? You won't have to wait too much longer if you're banking on Sonic Mania to get things right. It's set for an August 15 release after a delay earlier this year.
The date technically slipped out through a updated trailer posted to the Sonic Mania Steam page a week or two ago, with the clip being swapped out for one re-listing the title as a 'Summer 2017' release once word got out. While many were already expecting the trailer date to be a leak, we've seen situations with one version of a trailer being mistaken for another in the past.
Though going through the effort of swapping out a trailer that was seemingly displaying a release date in error only to confirm that date as gospel in the end seems a little pointless, but that's exactly what has happened this time around. Despite pulling the 'leak' trailer from the Steam page, Sega have today announced an official August 15 release for Sonic Mania.

Sonic Mania's 'Collector's Edition' has been known and on offer for quite some time now, but the announcement has more to offer than simply a release date. Digital pre-orders are now live across all platforms. Whether there's still time to grab a copy of the impressive Collector's Edition bundle, however, will be down to the enquiring individual to track down.
The trailer itself holds a special power: the power to entice those who might not have been interested in what Sonic Mania has shown so far into giving it a second opinion. Paired with some gloriously nostalgic sketch animation that somehow comes across as delectably cute, we urge even the saltiest of Sonic fans to give this latest trailer a shot.
