Assymetrical multiplayer horror survival game Dead By Daylight was updated over the weekend with a brand new free DLC, introducing a new killer, survivor and map to the game. This is only the third free DLC pack given away by developer Behaviour Digital since Dead By Daylight launched in June 2016, and only the second to contain a new hunter.

'A Lullaby For The Dark' introduces the Huntress, a rabbit-masked axe-wielding psycho, who hums creepily as she explores the map. She is the first Dead By Daylight killer with ranged weaponry, which completely changes the dynamic of the game for anyone with a good enough aim. The Huntress can carry up to five axes which she can throw at survivors, which she can charge up (or cancel). Axes can be replenished at lockers, which up until now were only useful for survivors to hide in.
New unlockable perks for the Huntress include the ability to sense any survivors entering the basement area (your "home" on the map where the most hooks are), temporarily losing the "red stain" that shows survivors where she's looking, and the ability to turn her constant creepy singing into penalties for survivors who fail generator checks.
It also introduces survivor David King, an ex-rugby star. His perks include a dash ability which also allows him to avoid damage, extra Bloodpoint (XP) bonuses if you protect other survivors, and one where if you're prepared to start with reduced health you won't lose blood, grunt in pain, and can even recover from a grounded dying state - which could be invaluable.
We've tried out new killer the Huntress and takes some getting used to, especially the amount of time between getting ready to throw an axe and actually chucking it. There are a lot of complaints already that she's overpowered, but then that's generally how the Dead By Daylight community is anyway.
Previous free DLCs included the creepy ghost nurse and Bill from Left 4 Dead, canonically continuing his story since he was "left for dead" in L4D2's DLC 'The Sacrifice'. The most exciting paid DLC for Dead By Daylight is probably 'The Halloween Chapter' which introduces Michael Myers and Laurie Strode from the Halloween series of movies. Since Dead By Daylight's main competitor is Friday The 13th: The Game, which has a similar premise, we're sure all these things including this new free DLC are designed to lure players back to Dead By Daylight. It worked with us, anyway.
