Obsidian Entertainment’s next title could be based on a novel called The Outer Worlds by E J Gilmour, that’s according to a recent trademark by Obsidian that lists the filing as being marked on 27th January, 2018.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is coming out on 3rd April and is the only game that Obsidian Entertainment are currently known to be working on, although it’s highly likely that development on The Outer Worlds has already begun and will kick into full gear once Pillars of Eternity II is out.
The Outer Worlds will probably end up being an RPG? Let’s hope it gets featured on our list of The Best RPG Games on PC!
The Amazon listing for the novel gives a pretty clear synopsis on what the game could be about:
‘An alien invasion sweeps across the galaxy. The hope of humanity rests with an exile from an ancient empire and his loyal crew. They must work together to save the human race from imminent extinction. High adventure on a galactic scale.’
We probably won’t learn anything about this project until later in the year, but it’s something to look forward to. What do you make of it?
Thanks to the sharp eyes of UrbaNebula on the Official Obsidian Forums for spotting this.
