One of Paradox's secrets to continued success -- besides making good games -- is the engagement with it's players. The sci-fi grand-strategy's team has been focused on advertising the 2.0 Cherryh update, but it now seems something else is on the horizon.

Stellaris Sends Youtubers Out To War [UPDATE: Episodes 2 & 3 Out Now]
Yesterday, the official Twitter account hinted at a big revelation coming this Thursday. Based on the pictures Game Director Martin Anward has been teasing, the community is quite convinced large Titan-class warships are coming to the 4X game next. Right as I was writing this article, he also posted some sort of long-range artillery/superweapon/capital ship equipped with a far-reaching energy beam.

While the official announcement will only come at the end of the week, we can safely assume it's nature. Titans have been discussed in the game forums for quite some time and known to be under consideration, and every past Stellaris DLC came accompanied of a patch.
More importantly, however, is that when I spoke to Game Designer Daniel Moregard at gamescom last year, he told me the team was planning to work next on something involving war and diplomacy. When I asked him how they would alter such a core part of the experience with a paid DLC, he said: "Fixes and adjustments to the mechanics would be free, but things like super weapons and the such would probably be paid".
Based on that and Martin's teases, we can safely deduce the next update will include something related to the military side of Stellaris. We pretty sure know for now that big capital ships are on the field, but we'll have to wait till Thurday to find out if we're getting a Death Star.
