A Vampyre Story was a supernatural comedy point-and-click adventure that channeled the spirit of beloved LucasArts games like Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, and Full Throttle. Upon its release in 2009, it garnered positive reviews for its homage to these classics.
The sequel, A Vampyre Story: A Bat’s Tale, was announced shortly after the release of the original game. Unfortunately, it was put on hold in 2010, and there have been no developments since - until now…
The plot line goes like this; “Mona, a Parisian opera singer, is kidnapped and taken to a castle in Draxsylvania where she is turned into a vampire.”
“Fortunately, she’s aided by her loyal companion, a wisecracking bat named Froderick.”
Ex-LucasArts veterans are on board helping A Vampyre Story: A Bat's Tale
According to its Steam listing, A Vampyre Story: A Bat’s Tale will showcase beautiful hand-painted environments mixed with modern visual effects. The game will also feature numerous cinematic cutscenes and plenty of animations.
The voice acting will be done by actors who have worked on Return to Monkey Island, Sam and Max, The Walking Dead, Layers of Fear, Assassin’s Creed, and more.
Ex-LucasArts veterans are on board with the project, including Bill Tiller and Dave Harris who worked on The Curse of Monkey Island, together with Tag of Joy, the development team behind the recent point and click game Crowns and Pawns: Kingdom of Deceit.
Travel with not one but TWO playable characters conversing and building the world around them, as well as constantly putting their heads together to solve a wide variety of classic point-and-click puzzles mixed with a twist on the use of your inventory. With Froderick’s wit and Mona’s charm no one will stand in their way!
A Vampyre Story: A Bat’s Tale is currently in development for PC, and no release date has been listed. While there are no console listings at the moment, it is anticipated that the game will eventually be available across multiple platforms.
The roster of eagerly anticipated point-and-click adventures continues to grow, featuring titles like Rosewater, As The Leaves Fall, Broken Sword - Parzival’s Stone, and now A Vampyre Story: A Bat’s Tale. The outlook for 2025 and beyond is indeed promising for fans of the genre, and we look forward to playing them all.
