Age of Empires 4 received its first gameplay reveal eariler this year during the XO19 event earlier this year, its rather colorful graphical style taking at least some players by surprise.
As some voices raised concerns regarding the level of saturation in Age of Empires 4, given how it’s a historical RTS, Creative Director Adam Isgreen has confirmed that the game will come with “options” that allow turning down the saturation.
Age of Empires 4 Saturation
“[…] the look of the game, I know a lot of people were like ‘Oh my God, it’s bright!’ That’s just saturation, it’s ok. Don’t worry about it. You can turn down the saturation. There’s options.”, Isgreen said on an Extra Life stream which you’ll find below. The discussion in question happens around the 8:43:23 mark.
He went on to clarify that “we want to be a great citizen of PC gaming.”, although no specific details regarding these options were shared as of now.
The lack of details isn’t necessarily surprising as Age of Empires 4 wasn’t yet given a release date and, according to a rumor, won’t launch before 2021, which still gives developer Relic Entertainment time to tinker with graphical options and the likes.
Age of Empires 4 is currently in development for PC.
