It’s been over twenty years since Ensemble Studio’s Age of Empires took the RTS world by storm with its accurate historical settings and surprisingly balanced gameplay. Last year, Forgotten Empires unveiled a faithful remaster of the game with updated graphics and minor tweaks for the Xbox One, but the PC crowd was left wanting. That’s about to change, however, as Age of Empires: Definitive Edition is now available on PC !
Boasting 4K visuals, 8-person multiplayer and several new and helpful features, Age of Empires is back with over 40 hours of updated content for your gaming pleasure. Despite the visual overhaul and some minor adjustments (not to mention the quality-of-life improvements), this is still the same classic we all know and love, preserved for a whole new generation of gamers.
I had a lot fun with Age of Empires and its sequels growing up, so it’s great to see this classic get a much-needed modernization and finally return to the PC, where the series was born.
The game is already available on Steam over here, but you can also check out the original launch trailer below for more information.
