Alan Wake is set to join the survivor lineup in Dead by Daylight later this month, becoming available on all platforms including PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Players can already experience what it’s like to survive with Alan Wake on Dead by Daylight’s time-limited public test-build, which is available on Steam.
When does Alan Wake release as a survivor on Dead by Daylight?
The Dead by Daylight Alan Wake Chapter is set to launch on January 30th. This new chapter introduces the “Lights Out Modifier,” a limited-time feature that heightens the game’s terror by depriving players of essential tools.
”We are thrilled and honored to have Alan Wake enter the Fog of Dead by Daylight,” adds Sam Lake, Creative Director of Remedy Entertainment. ”The lore of both games is surprisingly compatible, a true match in… hell. With Alan Wake 2 now out, the time is right for another nightmare to begin.”
Voice actors Ilkka Villi and Matthew Porretta have returned to lend their likeness for the Alan Wake Chapter, and both have recorded original voice lines as Alan attempts to survive in The Fog.
Alan Wake has three key survival abilities to make use of in Dead by Daylight, including Champion of Light, Boon: Illumination and Deadline.
Champion of Light
Hardened by his harrowing encounters in Bright Falls and beyond, Alan Wake has developed several keen survival abilities, manifested here as his 3 character Perks. His first is Champion of Light, which grants you additional movement speed while shining a Flashlight. If you successfully Blind a Killer, they will gain the Hindered Status Effect, temporarily slowing them down.
Tip: If you really want the Killer to fear the light, pair this Perk with Haddie Kaur’s Residual Manifest, which will saddle them with the Blindness Status Effect.
Boon: Illumination
Use Boon: Illumination to create a Boon Totem, allowing all nearby Survivors to see the Auras of Generators and Chests across the Map. When you have a lit Boon Totem, you’ll also Cleanse and Bless Totems faster.
Tip: Try this Perk alongside Haddie Kaur’s Overzealous to raise your efficiency on Generators after scoping them out.
Deadline
Sometimes, you just have to write through a hand-cramp. Deadline activates when you’re injured, upping the frequency of Skill Checks while Healing Survivors or Repairing Generators. Should you happen to miss one, the penalty will be halved.
Tip: This Perk will pair nicely with synergistic Skill Check-related Perks (use the in-game search bar to narrow down your favourite available options) which could allow for some interesting loadouts.
Oddly enough, there’s no mention of Saga Anderson making her way over to Dead by Daylight as a survivor, but we hope she will make it into the game eventually.
