UPDATE, February 28: As luck would have it, you can now watch the high-quality animated rendition of the entire plot of Alien: Isolation online. Best of all, it's entirely free!
Alien: Isolation Digital Series - Episode 1 can now be found on the official IGN Youtube channel, and you can watch it without worrying about any sort of admission fee, courtesy of it being hosted on Youtube and all that. As we've discussed before, the show is going to be spread across seven episodes.
UPDATE, February 27: The rumoured Alien Isolation animated series has been announced. It will indeed be based on the 2014 game by Creative Assembly, and seems to be CGI based on the game's assets. It will launch exclusively on IGN, and even better, it'll be out tomorrow.
You can check out the full trailer below. The seven-episode series will feature a mix of cutscenes and new story elements to basically tell a machinima Alien Isolation TV show version of the game. All episodes will drop tomorrow on IGN.com and IGN's YouTube channel. It honestly looks pretty cool, too.
Original story, February 21: An R-rated Alien Isolation show seems to be on the way. Following various reports which revealed that multiple Alien TV series are in development, it now looks like that one of these series will be an Alien Isolation animated series based on the 2014 survival horror title from Creative Assembly.
This animated series is, reportedly, being developed with a seven-episode run in mind, and could appear as soon as this April.
This is all according to Observer, whose sources within 20th Century Fox reported the information to them. It's said to be made by Axis Animation, the studio that also did VFX work on Alien Isolation, and is down to appear this year - perhaps even April. The Alien Isolation animated series will, apparently, be available digitally through the Alien website.
Earlier this year, the Alien Twitter page tweeted out the words "Who is Amanda Ripley?", followed by a note saying "Read. Play. Watch.". While hopes of an Alien Isolation 2 were quickly shattered after mobile game Alien Blackout was announced, with the "Read" referring to the Aliens Resistance comic book (which also serves as a sequel to Isolation) this could be what the "Watch" portion of the note was referencing. All three feature Amanda Ripley, the daughter of Ellen Ripley from the movies and the star of Alien Isolation.
As no official comment was made on the matter of a potential Alien Isolation animated series, all we can do is wait and see if the rumors end up being true. It was expected that the "Watch" portion could not correspond to another movie, given the poor performance of Alien Covenant, but an Alien Isolation TV series sounds great to us - if it's done right. We'll report more when we hear it.
