Similar to the original game, ARK: Survival Ascended combines innovative survival mechanics with an expansive world filled with lush biomes and prehistoric creatures. Players will have to survive the harsh environment while crafting powerful weapons and tools to help them on their journey. This exciting news, of course, has led players to wonder about ARK: Survival Ascended’s release date.
ARK: Survival Ascended Release Date
Although ARK: Survival Ascended is a remaster, it will not be free. Instead, players will need to purchase the game. It was originally meant to release in August, although Studio Wildcard delayed the remaster with a price cut taking it from $44.99 to $39.99.
“We’ve found it challenging working with Unreal Engine 5.2, but at the same time, it is incredibly exciting. We’re discovering new ways each day to push the technology to the next level; combined with the work needed to support a fully cross-platform-moddable game ecosystem on consoles and PC, it’s clear that we’ll need a bit more time, read a statement from the developer.

ARK: Survival Ascended was set to be released in October 2023 for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Its PC version went live on October 25, but its console counterparts were delayed yet again, this time until November 2023.

In terms of features, ARK: Survival Ascended promises to be an expansive and immersive experience. Players will be able to play with their friends as well as enjoy mods on different platforms thanks to the crossplay support. Other than that, the game will also feature the Survival of the Fittest (SOTF) game mode that will constantly be updated and improved.
The content doesn’t end there, as Studio Wildcard also plans to release expansion packs that are sold separately. Based on the official site, here are each DLC’s pricing and release date.
- $19.99 for Explorer's Pass, which includes Scorched Earth, Aberration (Q1 2024), and Ragnarok (Q2 2024)
- $19.99 for Genesis Pass, which includes Genesis Part 1 (Q1 2024) and Genesis Part 2 (Q2 2024)
While all of this sounds exciting, unfortunately, the official ARK: Survival Evolved server will shut down when ARK: Survival Ascended launches in October. Thankfully, this doesn’t mean the original game is gone forever. Players can still host unofficial servers or play the game in single-player.
