How do you to collect the root of a mountain in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla? What’s the key to completing the Taking Root quest?
As you make your way through the gorgeous realm of Asgard, Ivaldi will ask you to collect the root of a mountain during AC Valhalla’s Taking Root quest.
Part of your efforts to craft a binding for a particularly naughty mythological doggo, the quest revolves around solving its riddle, rather than guiding you through what you need to do using quest markers.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla Collect the Root of a Mountain
The riddle can be read from the Potential at Its Peak quest item found in your inventory. But, since this guide aims to make it easier for you to collect the root of a mountain in AC Valhalla, this is what it says:
“Cradled in rock,/At Asgard’s highest height,/A seed sleeps in Ymir’s cold grip./Warm it awake, bring it to water,/For old bone to sprout with new life.”
Keeping the advice in mind, head southwest, to the Fast Travel point above Utangard Chasm. You can take advantage of this trek to also synchronize if you haven’t.
From the top, look just below and you’ll spot a pile of hay. Perform an ever-majestic leap of faith into it. Near the hay, you’ll spot an odd-looking seed. Just in case, you can use Odin’s Sight to highlight it.
This is the seed you need to “warm awake” for AC Valhalla’s Taking Root quest. To do so, simply select your torch, aim at the pile of hay and throw it. The fire will spread to the seed.
Eivor will comment on needing to get the seed into the water. Pick it up and take a few steps forward. When you reach the edge, you should spot a pond just below.
Throw the seed into it and jump down while minding the rocks. After Eivor comments on needing to retrieve the root, simply approach the item that’s glowing blue and interact with it to pick it up.
Lastly, return to Ivaldi. That’s all you need to know about collecting the root of a mountain in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and its Taking Root quest.
