Atomic Heart promises a good dose of gory action while exploring its surreal, Soviet-inspired world. The deranged mutants and rebellious robots that inhabit it are sure to pose a challenge, which makes it fair to ask if multiplayer or co-op support might be planned.
As a first-person shooter, Atomic Heart would cater to both a co-op mode, where other players can hop in to aid you in the fight against its monstrosities, and a PvP multiplayer experience. But if you’re looking to get your cooperative or competitive fix with developer Mundfish’s debut title, you may be out of luck.
Atomic Heart Multiplayer
Although Atomic Heart multiplayer might have been talked about in the past, in some capacity, the feature seems to no longer be part of the developer’s plans as the game heads for its scheduled 2023 launch.
As of November 2, 2022, a pinned post on the game’s Discord server reads as follows: “No plans in adding multiplayer mode.” Similarly, its Steam page only mentions a single-player mode being planned for release.
- Atomic Heart multiplayer/co-op support status: Unavailable at launch
Atomic Heart co-op support doesn’t seem to be mentioned anywhere either, strongly suggesting that, at least initially, we’re looking at a purely single-player experience.
Of course, this doesn’t completely exclude either mode (or both) from being added in a later update, but that depends on both the game’s financial performance and potential shifts in the developer’s vision for it.
Nothing official has been mentioned so far on that front but we’ll be sure to update this article as soon as we hear any news.
Atomic Heart is currently slated to launch on February 21, 2023, and headed to PC, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.
