Where can you find the Baldur’s Gate 3 Auntie Ethel Hag boss location in Larian Studios’ latest RPG? How difficult is it to reach?
Baldur’s Gate 3 plays host to quite a few tough encounters and the Auntie Ethel Hag boss counts among them. If you’re looking to complete them all, you’ll want to know her location.
The first spot in which you’ll encounter Auntie Ethel is found south of Blighted Town. Her Hag status won’t be immediately clear, as she’ll be in human form, confronted by two people accusing her of taking their sister Mayrina away. This conversation can lead to starting a quest to save the girl.
Baldur's Gate 3 Auntie Ethel Hag Boss Location
Depending on the outcome of the conversation, you may either find yourself in a fight with two men or witness Auntie Ethel from “Baldur’s Gate 3” teleporting away through magic.
Continue along the path ahead. The map will indicate that you’re approaching the Sunlit Wetlands, but your character will sense a feeling of being watched.
The mood of the environment may drastically shift, depending on an Investigation or Arcana check.
Regardless of the outcome, keep to the right side, and you should soon locate the Riverside Teahouse on your map. This location happens to be where you will find the Auntie Ethel Hag boss in “Baldur’s Gate 3,” so be sure to head in that direction.
Upon opening its weathered wooden doors, you will encounter Auntie Ethel once again, but this time she will be accompanied by Mayrina. Telling Mayrina that Auntie Ethel killed her brothers automatically initiates the boss fight.
Just be warned that, regardless of when you fight her, Auntie Ethel is a strong opponent. It’s best to come prepared – ideally with your party leveled up to the max.
Should you decide not to initiate the fight, Auntie Ethel may either remain in place or teleport away with Mayrina.
Near the entrance, you’ll notice a fireplace. As you approach, a passive check will be initiated. If successful, you’ll discover that the fireplace is merely an illusion.
You can also bypass the fireplace by simply panning the camera to see the space behind it and clicking on the ground.
Proceed up the stairs to access the Overgrown Tunnel, and you’ll be on your way to another potential location for the Auntie Ethel Hag boss in “Baldur’s Gate 3.”
Within the tunnel, you’ll discover what Auntie Ethel has been doing. She’ll also reveal her true Hag form and instruct you to leave before vanishing once again.
Keep moving forward and then to the left to easily locate the Gnarled Door. Beside it on a table, you’ll find four Whispering Masks.
You can’t lockpick the door, but you can initiate a conversation that may lead to an Intimidation or Persuasion check if you wish to get past it.
If both checks fail, you have two alternative options to reach the Auntie Ethel Hag boss location in BG3.
You can either pan the camera as you did with the fireplace and move through – as the door is also an illusion – or you can utilize the Whispering Masks. However, be cautious; equipping the masks exposes your characters to the constant risk of being controlled by Auntie Ethel. If you choose this method, quick movement is essential.
Beyond the Gnarled Door, you’ll face a battle with four masked foes. The confined space may make this fight particularly challenging, but with some experimentation and persistence, you’ll prevail. Move on, and you’ll come across a waterfall.
Leap through it to the other side, and you’ll encounter a gas cloud. There will be several of these to deal with as you descend. You can ignite them and then extinguish the flames using a water source or spell.
Alternatively, you can attempt some riskier jumps. Take your time and survey the room.
Upon reaching the bottom, you’ll enter the Ancient Abode, which serves as the final location for the Auntie Ethel Hag boss battle in BG3.
