Baldur’s Gate 3 patch 7 release date sees Larian Studios RPG growing even bigger with yet another welcome serving of content and fixes, quality of life improvements, and modding support.
After its predecessor improved kisses and made the camp a bit more lively, BG3’s patch 7 release date could be quite significant for both modders and players who enjoy using mods to customise their campaigns or for players that enjoy evil endings.
Updated on 5th September with more news about the Patch 7 Release Date and the full patch notes.
Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 7 Release Date
Larian Studios confirmed on the 3rd of June that Patch 7 will be released on the 5th of September 2024. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S won’t get the patch until October.
When discussing its plans for cross-platform mod support, it revealed that “the initial stages of modding support [could release] in our next big patch, which is still several months away.”

Patch 7 is approximately 11.6GB on PC, and will require 160GB of free space to install. The console versions and Mac won’t get Patch 7 until October 2024.
The quote above dates from February 22, 2024, when hotfix 19 went live, leading us to believe that it’s very likely for BG3’s patch 7 release date to slip into the second half of the year, as later confirmed by the developers.
On April 18th, Larian provided an in-depth look at what to expect in Patch 7, including the release of a new track from BAFTA award-winning composer Borislav Slavov. This track will accompany several new cinematic cutscenes that are being added with the patch, specifically for the bad ending scenes.
The patch will fix several annoying bugs, including “Jaheira’s unwillingness to follow the group and jump into combat, Wyll’s less-than-romantic greetings, as well as the mysteriously disappearing Narrator lines from the Gortash and Dark Urge confrontation”.
Don’t expect to see crossplay support added, or a photo mode, since Larian says that the work required to implement these is going to take a while longer.
A PTR system will be set up for people who want to help test upcoming patches and provide feedback before they’re released to the public, although only a select number of people will be chosen to do this.
“Patch 7 testing is now being split into a two-phase process, which begins with working closely with a small team of mod authors from the community. This is our closed alpha stage, where they’ll be able to help us further develop the modding tools, and have a go at bringing their existing mods to life using our Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit.”
The closed alpha is set to kick off today, June 3rd, and Larian will invite more mod authors to take part over time. In July, on the 22nd, the public will be able to take part, capped at roughly 1,000 players.
New Details confirmed on 16th July, 2024:
Patch 7 changes the way split screen works, making a significant improvement, giving players the option to merge into a single screen when they’re near one another.
Improvements have been made to the Honour mode, with creatures being bestowed additional Legendary Actions, including the “bulette, everyone’s favourite neighbourhood surgeon, Malus Thorm, and githyanki Ch’r’ai Tska’an, Ch’r’ai Har’rak, and Ptaris”.
You can find the full list of changes here.
The Patch 7 Closed Beta has been delayed. On the 22nd July, Larian Studios revealed that it discovered a bug, which delayed the beta.
“Why? While fixing bugs, passive dice rolls literally stopped working. We’re trying to figure out how we got here, so while we do that, we’ll be pushing the planned Closed Beta back to later this week.”
The beta should proceed at the end of the week.
Although plans can change and the efforts to deploy official mod tools sound like a bigger undertaking, we’d wager that they’ll at least be accompanied by multiple fixes for some of the title’s issues, whether big or small.
More details on the matter will be shared over the coming months. With Baldur’s Gate 3’s patch 7 release date covered, please drop by our article covering console commands and cheats for the sprawling RPG.
