Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham writers have done admirable work with the franchise, but it seems they’re now off to do other stuff. Fable stuff, in particular, as many of them have joined Playground Games, developers of Forza.
It’s not news that Playground is gearing up to (allegedly) produce a reboot of Microsoft’s Fable franchise, but the fact that they’ve enlisted Batman writers to write the script is new.
At the time of writing, Playground has enlisted three of the four Arkham writers:
- Senior Scriptwriter Kim MacAskill, joined in August 2019
- Principal Scriptwriter Martin Lancaster, originally Lead Scriptwriter on Arkham Knight
- Writer of Du Lac & Fey: Dance of Death, Rebecca Haigh, joined in August 2019
The only remaining Rocksteady Arkham writer who didn’t join Playground is Phillip Huxley, who has gone off to work on the Need for Speed Franchise with EA’s Ghost Games. Since we know precious little about the Fable game in question, there’s no point in guessing what we’re in for. The fact that Playground is enlisting serious talent does make for an interesting note, though.
In other Batman-related news, you can get all of the Arkham and LEGO games on Epic Games Store for free. As if that’s not enough, an all-new Arkham game is being teased as well, featuring Ra’s Al-Ghul.
