Uncapped Games, founded in 2021, has just revealed the real-time strategy game it’s been working on for a while now: Battle Aces, an action-oriented and fast-paced title that aims to “redefine the strategy genre”.
Battle Aces was unveiled during the Summer Game Fest 2024 live stream with both a stylish anime-inspired trailer and a gameplay preview with a fair amount of StarCraft and Supreme Commander DNA and a strong focus on moment-to-moment action and quick tactics to overpower and outsmart human opponents.
Battle Aces Release Date
There’s currently no release date set for Battle Aces, so stay tuned for updates, but Uncapped Games confirmed it’ll be free-to-play when it launches on Steam soon. It appears the game’s far along in development, as a closed beta is set to begin on the 25th June, and you can already sign up for it.
Battles Aces Gameplay
Battles Aces will be “a new generation of real-time strategy PC game” that emphasises immediate action and pre-battle customisation, with “eight unique units with multiple tech tiers” selected before each match. In a way, the game could be borrowing some elements from auto-battlers and tower defence strategy titles too, and this could help differentiate it from past RTS releases that failed to build up an audience big enough.
According to Uncapped Games, special attention has been paid to “user interface and control innovations” to help players “manage creation and reinforcement of their armies more easily than traditional RTS games.” A common ‘roadblock’ for casual RTS fans over the years has been the overabundance of micromanagement in some classics, so this should help alleviate those pains.
Matches are expected to last 10 minutes tops, and rigid factions aren’t a thing in Battle Aces. It’s all about player-made army builds and counter-playing the opponents as the ‘meta’ evolves. In this futuristic sci-fi universe, “war is waged between high-tech drones controlled by commander-mercenaries known as Battles Aces.”
You can find Battle Aces on Steam. This PC-exclusive RTS will be free to play.
