Bayonetta 3 is one of 2022’s hottest releases for the Nintendo Switch. After going into hiding for what seemed like forever, developer PlatinumGames is almost ready to release.
The story of Bayonetta has always been developed by PlatinumGames, but it started life as a multi-format series, coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. Coming at a time when the developer was pretty much loved by all thanks to the likes of Bayonetta and Vanquish, sadly the game didn’t sell that well, and it looked like it was disappearing into obscurity.
That is, until Nintendo picked up the tab and brought Bayonetta back to life. Bayonetta 2 was entirely funded by Nintendo, but because the original game was published by Sega, the creators of Sonic kept credit within the game. Due to the funding from Nintendo for the title, the second title got another lease of life on Nintendo Switch after originally coming to Wii U, but has remained exclusive there until this date.
With that in mind, people will be wondering if a Bayonetta 3 PC release date might be on the cards, and although it’s not impossible (since titles that were previously Switch-exclusive like Deadly Premonition 2 eventually did come to PC after a year of exclusivity), it does currently seem pretty unlikely.
Bayonetta 3 PC release
Bayonetta 3 is currently slated to launch on Nintendo Switch on October 28th, 2022. There has been no information about a port to PC, or any other format, and given that development was funded by Nintendo, it seems unlikely to be coming in the future.
PlatinumGames is a multi-format developer, but has often done deals in the past to work soley with a single platform publisher. That said, The Wonderful 101 was a Switch-exclusive, and PlatinumGames regained the rights to that title and went to KickStarter to produce a version for all formats including PC.
As of right now, however, it seems pretty unlikely Bayonetta 3 will come to PC, as Bayonetta 2 itself remains a Nintendo Wii U and Switch exclusive. We’ll update this page should anything change, though.
