Borderlands 3 is filled with all manner of exciting quests across multiple planets, and some of the quests aren't as straightforward as others - as some offer difficult choices to make. Such is the case with the Borderlands 3 Maliwannabees quest on the planet Promethea, where you'll get a choice of life and death between two characters.
The quest takes places in the Meridian Outskirts area of Promethea, where a civilian called Ziff is after your help for some justice in a murder mystery. You have to solve the murder and kill Max or Rax, the potential killers - but which one should you kill? And does it matter?
Should you kill Max or Rax in the Borderlands 3 Maliwannabees quest?
The first thing you'll be asked to do is investigate the murder scene. Head to the broken bridge at the waypoint and check out the body bags under it. You'll then be tasked with going to the supply vehicle, and when you get there you'll hear both Max and Rax taking credit for the murders.
Your next objective, then, is to choose whether to kill Rax or Max. You also have to watch out for a possible tough miniboss character called Borman Nates (yes, a Psycho movie reference), but ignoring that - who should you kill? Is this possibly a scenario where killing one character will get you different loot - or unlock something special later on?
The answer, happily, is no. It does not matter whether you kill Rax or Max, the outcome is the same - and additionally, once you've killed one of them and tried to leave the bridge, you'll get an optional objective to kill the other anyway, along with the rest of the nearby troops!
After this you can find your way back to Ziff at the original waypoint to get your reward. Congratulations, you've completed the Borderlands 3 Maliwannabees quest. Wasn't as hard as it seemed, was it?
