Sci-fi survival crafting game Breathedge is out now and has made a bit of a splash among the PC crowd. Since it’s part of a genre that’s often best enjoyed in co-op or multiplayer, you might be wondering if these modes are supported.
Perhaps you’ve a friend that’s already died a lot while in outer space and you want to provide some much needed company for the afterlife. Or, perhaps you’re after their immortal chicken. We’re not here to judge your motivation, but we will tell you what you need to know about Breathedge co-op and multiplayer. Just read on below.
At launch, Breathedge only features a single player mode. It’s sad news for co-op enthusiasts but you’ll have to craft your way through its story and enjoy its comedy on your own, at least at the moment. Multiplayer was seemingly not planned at any point throughout development.
“We do not plan to add a cooperative [mode] in the near future. But after the release, everything can happen. No guarantees or promises,” a developer said in 2019 when replying in a Steam discussion thread on the topic.
While Breathedge co-op and multiplayer aren’t part of the package at the moment, it still sounds like there’s a chance we might see them implemented at some point.
That, however, likely depends on how the game will be received and on the developer’s priorities, although we are keeping our fingers crossed that it’ll happen.
Breathedge is available now on PC.
