Dystopian turn-based tactics game Chains of Freedom was unveiled today, during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted showcase, offering us our first look at the horrific mutants we’ll face while exploring the grim environments of its Eastern European state.
A helicopter crash brought our elite military squad of Peacekeepers to the area, which was ravaged by a biocrystal known as EDEN.
Chains of Freedom Announcement
Its effects on the landscape don’t take long to make themselves noticed, as we inevitably encounter mutants hunting for their next prey. Less monstrous, but just as deadly, we’ll also face our fair share of well-equipped enemy soldiers.
Chains of Freedom blends real-time exploration with high-stakes turn-based battles during which terrain, positioning, and our squad’s loadouts make the difference between life and death.
Some encounters can be dealt with by attacking foes head-on, while others might be best avoided through the use of stealth.
In terms of equipment, we’ll put the likes of meat hooks, axes, flamethrowers, mortars, and more to good use, while our characters can gain unique abilities by finding valuable biocrystals.
Chains of Freedom’s story-driven missions see us navigating a plot that features “a rogue scientist, mind control serums, and a government teetering on the edge of collapse.”
The title is set to launch in 2025 on PC, via Steam, the Epic Store, and GOG, as well as PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X/S. Watch it in action in the trailer below.
