Chains of Freedom, the dystopian turn-based tactics game from Lithuanian developer Nordcurrent now has a Steam demo that lets us witness the horrors of its fictional Eastern European state.
Having gone live just ahead of Steam Next Fest, it marks the first opportunity to play the title ahead of its release later this year.
Chains of Freedom Steam Demo
In Chains of Freedom, we lead a squad of Peacekeepers as they make their way across an area ravaged by a biocrystal known as EDEN.
We’ll face both enemy soldiers and horrific mutants, getting to choose whether we tackle encounters directly or use stealth and subterfuge to gain an advantage.
The title’s mixture of real-time exploration and turn-based battles emphasize being aware of the terrain on which we’re fighting, enemy positioning, as well as our squad’s loadouts.
The latter include a variety of weapons ranging from axes used to dispatch enemies in close-quarters combat to devastating flamethrowers and beyond.
If this piques your interest, Chains of Freedom’s Steam demo is available now, ahead of its multiplatform launch, scheduled for later in 2025.
