Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Colossal Order today announced their decision to delay the console version of upcoming city building game Cities: Skylines 2 until next year.
Cities: Skylines 2 is now expected to launch on both Xbox Series X/S and PS5 at some point during Spring 2024.
Cities: Skylines 2 Console Version Delayed
“We are hard at work getting the game ready for our release on October 24th,” a statement from the publisher reads.
“While doing so, we have come to realize that we need more time to reach the quality targets we have set. As we want to provide the best experience for our players, we are updating the release window for Xbox and PS5 to Spring 2024. The additional time allows us to focus on matching the quality and performance across all platforms.”
Further updates regarding Cities: Skylines II’s console release window will be shared “soon.”
The game’s PC version is unaffected by this decision and remains on track to launch in under a month, on October 24, 2023. Its minimum and recommended system requirements were, however, updated.
Although the delay of Cities: Skylines II’s console version is sure to disappoint fans interested in picking it up on Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5, it hopefully means that when the game does launch next year, it will do so without optimization issues.
