Cities Skylines 2 is still a few months away from being released, yet fans of the franchise are already buzzing with excitement. Considering the game is a significant improvement over its predecessor thanks to new mechanics and a variety of new content, it’s no surprise that many players also want to know whether or not it will be possible to play with friends.
So, will Cities Skylines 2 have multiplayer support, or is it still a single-player experience like the original game? Here’s everything you need to know about Cities Skylines 2 multiplayer support.
Will Cities Skylines 2 Have Multiplayer?
The game’s trailer and roadmap have unveiled some exciting glimpses of what’s coming in the next installment of the critically praised game, but one thing’s for sure – there won’t be a multiplayer mode in Cities Skylines 2.
While this may come as a disappointment for some fans, developer Colossal Order is confident that, even without the online space, the single-player content of Cities Skylines 2 will more than compensate.
In a Tweet, Colossal Order explained, “Cities Skylines II is our most ambitious project to date, expanding on every mechanic in the franchise. Adding multiplayer support takes an incredible amount of time and resources that would take away from building the core player experience we are striving to create.”
In case you missed out, Cities Skylines 2’s roadmap has promised various new content that’ll gradually be added to the game to liven up your experience. Starting from a new San Francisco map, Content Creator Packs, and Expansion Packs to countless new assets. The list goes on! So, while the game lacks multiplayer mode, it seems that it still has much potential and can still offer you entertainment for hours on end.
