Cities: Skylines 2 Build Underground Metro
Before you can build Cities: Skylines II’s underground metro, you’ll first need to unlock it. To do so, you’ll need to click the number next to your city’s name in the lower left corner of your screen.
Navigate to the Transportation tab indicated by a green bus, then unlock Subway for the cost of four development points.
You will need to have already unlocked the previous nodes first, so this may not be an option for you early in a playthrough.
Once you have access to Cities: Skylines II’s subway, you’ll need to start setting up the whole system across your city.
You’ll need to start with a subway yard, which requires a good chunk of space and is vital for the whole network.
While you’re looking for a place to build it, it’s also worth taking into consideration where to place the subway stations which allow passengers to board and disembark.
Overground subway stations take up more space but are cheaper than underground subway stations. You’ll need at least one subway yard and two subway stations to get things going.
Before you’re ready to move your people around using Cities: Skylines 2 underground metro, you’ll need to connect the yard and station with tracks.
You can opt to place them manually and determine their elevation or rely on the subway line tool. The latter allows you to select two stations which it then automatically connects using tracks.
When manually placing down tracks, you’ll need to take into account the fact that trains cannot take tight turns, which does mean that you’ll sometimes have to spend more and cover more ground.
