Publisher 2K and developer Firaxis Games today unveiled the Byzantium and Gaul Pack as the third DLC available to owners of the Civilization 6 - New Frontier Pass.
Set to launch on September 24, the Byzantium and Gaul Pack introduces to Civ 6 the two new civilizations that give it its name, each with a leader of its own, new districts and units.
The developer describes Byzantium as being “all about conquest, be it militarily or religiously” while Gaul “has some beefy boosts related to culture and production” while also being able to hold its own in a fight.

Civilization 6’s Byzantium & Gaul Pack also adds two new World Wonders for players to build.
The Biospehere increases appeal from marsh and rainforest tiles while also boosting power and tourism for owners of the Gathering Storm expansion. Other rule sets see it granting bonus science for every marsh, rainforest or woods tile.
On the other hand, building the Statue of Zeus grants free military units to the city which houses it while also increasing production of anti-cavalry units.
The new Highlands map script will also be introduced in the Byzantium & Gaul Pack, featuring a landscape dominated by hills and mountain ranges with plenty of gulfs and smaller lakes.
Owners of the New Frontier Pass will also get access to the optional Dramatic Ages mode as part of the Byzantium & Gaul Pack DLC.
Requiring either the Rise and Fall or Gathering Storm expansion, the mode dials up the bonuses and penalties that players get from entering Golden and Dark Ages.
“Instead of Dedications, players will gain access to powerful new Social Policies like Golden Policies and updated Dark Policies that offer more flexibility and power. Dark Ages in particular are more dangerous than ever, as players in Dark Ages will have a portion of their empire immediately fall into Free Cities, and Free Cities can exert pressure on other cities.” reads an emailed press release.
The mode also reworks Georgia, allowing the civilization to use Dark Age policies even during Golden Ages which also reward it an extra wildcard slot.
